Sheathless Guide Catheters During Transradial PCI
نویسنده
چکیده
S heathless technology has been part of transradial procedures since the 1940s, when Sig Radner first performed transradial catheterization via radial cutdowns. Migration to femoral vascular access by the modified Seldinger approach using sheaths eclipsed the sheathless approach, which subsequently became lost in the fog of history. The transradial era reinvigorated the need for equipment optimized for the limited vascular space found in many radial arteries, and a variety of potential solutions to maximize working space for interventions are now maturing into the marketplace.

Transradial percutaneous coronary intervention for chronic total occlusion of coronary artery disease using sheathless standard guiding catheters
OBJECTIVES Our aim was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of routine transradial approach (TRA) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions using the sheathless technique with standard guiding catheters. BACKGROUND Transradial approach PCI was applied for CTO lesions. A major limitation of TRA CTO PCI is the inability to use large guiding catheters b...
متن کاملA Case of Sheathless Transradial Coronary Intervention for Complex Coronary Lesions with a Standard Guiding Catheter
One of the major limitations of transradial coronary intervention is the inability to use large guiding system, which leads to the development of dedicated sheathless guide catheter system. However, these devices are not available in the Republic of Korea. We present a case in which conventional guiding catheter was used for sheathless transradial coronary intervention in the treatment of compl...
متن کاملFeasibility of Transradial Coronary Intervention Using a Sheathless Guiding Catheter in Patients With Small Radial Artery
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Transradial coronary angiography and intervention are increasing in frequency due to lower major vascular access site complications and the potential for early mobilization. However, the small size of the radial artery (RA) is a major limitation of this technique. A sheathless guiding catheter (GC) has recently been introduced that has a 1-2 French smaller diameter com...
متن کاملSuccessful percutaneous coronary intervention using a 4-in-3 “Slender Mother and Child” PCI technique
We report two cases of successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) using a 4-in-3 "Slender Mother and Child" PCI technique. In both cases, coronary angiography revealed severe stenosis of the right coronary artery (RCA). In both cases, 5-Fr sheathless guiding catheters were inserted into the RCA (virtual 3-Fr PCI) but stents could not pass through because of stents previously implanted ...
متن کاملSimultaneous transradial coronary angioplasty and contralateral coronary angiography with a single guide catheter for total coronary occlusions.
OBJECTIVE In order to prevent double arterial access for contralateral angiography for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of occluded coronary arteries, a new technique is under development, requiring only one puncture site and one guide catheter (1P1G). BACKGROUND Percutaneous intervention for coronary artery occlusions frequently requires visualization of the segment distal to the occ...
